What is it?
nyana is a lightweight programmers text editor that sports a plugin system and an abbreviation expansion mechanism similar to Scribes.
All functionality is provided by the built in plugin system, and plugins are easy to write!
Why?
"There are hundreds of perfectly good editors, why would you want to write another one?"The simple answer is just for the fun of it. The longer answer is to explore ideas, learn python and finally write something that is more useful than "Hello,World". However the actual reason is to see if I can do it.
What can it do?
The current feature set is modest, think Windows Notepad but with a plugin system. The feature list is only limited to your mind. The current functionality is listed below.- abbreviation expansion with variable traversal via tab key

- vte based terminal bar
Is it mature?
nyana is a new project and fairly immature, the plugin API and inter-plugin event mechanisms are evolving as needs arise. Yes even the bugs are evolving, if you find one please email me. =)
What do I need to run it?
The requirements to run nyana are recent versions of python, gnome-python, gnome-python-desktop and vte.
